Conservation Value Program

What is it?

By working with Tampa Electric to identify comprehensive energy saving measures to put in place at your site, you can earn incentives up to $250 per average kilowatt (kW) reduction.

How does it work?

  1. With the help of a Tampa Electric representative, you or your engineering consultant submits a proposal to us on a measure designed to reduce your peak energy use. Proposal must be submitted prior to purchase and installation.
  2. Tampa Electric reviews the proposal for cost-effectiveness and estimates the potential incentive.
  3. After 90 days of successful operation, incentives are dispersed based on actual equipment performance (an average* reduction of less than 50 kW will be paid in full; an average* reduction of 50 kW or greater will earn 50% of the incentive with the balance paid one year following initial verification). Some monitoring may be required for evaluation purposes.

Tampa Electric will determine the incentive qualification by using the Florida Public Service Commission’s (FPSC) cost-effectiveness tests. An average of 5 kilowatts of summer and/or winter savings is required. Let the Conservation Value Program show you how to foster comprehensive savings at your facility.

Any commercial/industrial customer on firm rates meeting the company’s requirements for participation is eligible. For Tampa Electric to consider measures for potential program participation, the customer must submit their proposal along with a preliminary engineering analysis with relevant demand and energy calculations prior to any purchase or installation.

A maximum incentive of $250/avg. kW reduction will be paid based on savings from a baseline case. Tampa Electric will determine the incentive qualification by using the FPSC cost-effectiveness tests described in Rule 25-17.008, Florida Administrative Code. A benefit-to-cost ratio of at least 1.0 will be used. Summer peak is identified as 12:00 (noon) - 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, April through October. Winter peak is identified as 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, November through March.

*Note: Average kW is defined as the kilowatt-hours (kWH) used in the seasonal peak, divided by the total peak hours in the season.
